Is the Hong Kong Adult Expo Still Worth Visiting?
AIERSHA’s 2026 B2B Field Report and Buyer Guide
By Cathy, Senior Account Manager at AIERSHA | Updated September 2026 | For distributors, wholesalers, retailers and private-label buyers
Short answer: Yes—but its value has changed. The Hong Kong show remains useful for comparing suppliers, seeing product direction and meeting established partners efficiently. It is now less dependable as a stand-alone source of spontaneous new leads. Buyers and suppliers get the best return when trade-show meetings are combined with year-round content, digital sourcing and planned follow-up.
Executive Summary
- AIERSHA attended the 2026 Asia Adult Expo (AAE) as a professional visitor rather than an exhibitor, allowing us to assess the show from a buyer’s perspective.
- Our clearest market signal was a shift from selling specifications to selling a complete experience: stronger mechanisms, connected interaction, story, IP, gifting and emotional value.
- Content creators, educators and product-development teams are becoming more visible, while some traditional buyer traffic is becoming more selective and pre-arranged.
- For international buyers, the show is still efficient for supplier comparison—but factory capability, compliance documents and quality systems must be verified after the event.
What Did AIERSHA Observe at AAE Hong Kong 2026?
This report is based on my first-hand visit to the 2026 Hong Kong adult products exhibition. Instead of exhibiting, AIERSHA walked the floor as a professional visitor. We focused on the categories closest to our work as an adult wellness manufacturer and wholesaler: pleasure products, lingerie, BDSM and body accessories, intimate wellness, sensual products, and gifts and games.
Cathy, Senior Account Manager at AIERSHA, arriving at Asia Adult Expo 2026 as a professional visitor.
The aim was not to count booths. It was to answer three practical questions for B2B buyers:
- Does the Hong Kong show still offer meaningful sourcing value?
- Which new players and product directions deserve attention?
- How is the visitor mix changing—and what does that mean for wholesale growth?
Three Checks: Is the Hong Kong Adult Expo Still Valuable?
1. Platform continuity matters more than organizer changes
The show has operated through changes in organization and market conditions. For buyers, the practical test is not the name behind one edition; it is whether the platform can continue bringing together manufacturers, brands, distributors and industry professionals. The 2026 program’s stronger emphasis on stages, content and interaction suggested an effort to evolve beyond a traditional booth-only trade fair.
2. Hong Kong remains part of the value proposition
Hong Kong contributes more than a venue. Its international trade identity, accessibility for overseas visitors and long-standing role as a meeting point between global buyers and Asian supply chains continue to support the event. This accumulated city-and-industry value cannot be replaced quickly by a change of organizer.
3. Lower traffic needs context
Traffic felt lighter than in stronger previous editions, particularly for unplanned walk-in meetings. However, 2026 also had an unusual regional scheduling disruption: the Shenzhen International Adult Expo’s September edition was postponed to 5–7 March 2027. Many factories and overseas visitors had already planned around the two nearby shows, so the late change affected travel and exhibiting decisions.
Our interpretation: one quieter edition should not be treated as proof that Hong Kong has lost all relevance. At the same time, suppliers should not ignore the longer-term decline in purely walk-in trade-show traffic. The show remains valuable, but its role is becoming more focused.

Three New Signals Shaping the Adult Wellness Market
1. New players: technology, interaction and IP
The most interesting exhibitors were not simply adding another conventional vibrator. We saw three distinct innovation groups:
- Hardware-led developers: products using stronger or more controllable motors, suction, tapping, stroking and other movement mechanisms to improve the physical experience.
- Connected-experience developers: app-controlled products, interactive scenarios and early forms of content synchronization, including products that respond to video or story cues.
- IP and immersion brands: younger brands combining characters, plots, collectible cards, gifting and products—especially for Gen Z and Asian consumer segments.
In a mature category where basic vibration functions are easy to copy, meaningful differentiation increasingly comes from mechanism quality, software stability, visual identity and the complete user journey.
Character-led product presentation illustrates the rise of IP, storytelling and younger visual language.
2. New products: from function to experience and emotional value
The product shift can be summarized in three layers:
| Layer | What buyers compare | Commercial implication |
|---|---|---|
| Function | Motor, suction, movement, modes, charging | Still essential, but increasingly easy to imitate |
| Experience | Control, comfort, interaction, app scenes, packaging | Creates clearer retail differentiation |
| Emotion | Story, identity, gifting, play, community | Supports stronger branding and less price-only comparison |
For wholesalers, this means the strongest new-product brief is no longer “add more modes.” It should explain who the product is for, what experience it creates, how it is controlled, how it appears online and on shelf, and why a retailer can tell a compelling story around it.
A product family displayed at the show demonstrates differentiation through shape, scale and mechanism.
3. New visitors: creators, educators and specialist buying teams
Content creators, KOLs and sex educators were more visible in the program and on the show floor. This reflects a change in the route to market: discovery is moving from shelf placement alone toward education, demonstration and creator-led product storytelling.
We also met product-development and procurement staff from successful cross-border e-commerce businesses, while fewer owners appeared to be personally handling initial sourcing. As product information becomes easier to access online, senior decision-makers can delegate scouting and attend only when a meeting has strategic value.
The key implication: the exhibition’s strongest role is increasingly functional—planned supplier meetings, product comparison, relationship maintenance and concentrated negotiation—rather than being the only place where buyers can discover products.
What Should Adult Product Buyers Look for at a Trade Show?
A booth can make a product look attractive, but it cannot replace supplier verification. International buyers should use the show for fast comparison, then complete technical and commercial due diligence after the event.
1. OEM or ODM capability
Clarify whether the supplier only manufactures your design (OEM) or can also develop products, structures and packaging (ODM). Ask for relevant development examples, ownership terms and realistic tooling timelines.
2. Compliance by destination
Do not accept a generic claim that a product is “fully certified.” Request the reports required for the specific product and market—for example CE-related documentation, RoHS or REACH evidence in the EU, FCC requirements where applicable in the US, and UN38.3/MSDS documentation for rechargeable-battery transport.
3. Quality-control system
Ask how the factory manages incoming material inspection, in-process checks, charging and waterproof tests, aging tests, finished-product inspection, traceability and corrective action.
4. Product and packaging fit
Compare not only functions but also retail positioning, packaging size, shelf presentation, multilingual labeling, barcode needs and the ease of creating online content.
5. Trial-order flexibility
Confirm MOQ by SKU and color, mixed-SKU trial options, logo and packaging minimums, sample costs, lead time and the conditions for repeat-order pricing.
6. Export execution
Verify Incoterms, export documents, pickup location, shipping experience, warranty handling and whether the supplier can support DDP or other destination-specific logistics when required.
Is AAE Hong Kong Better for Finding New Suppliers or Meeting Existing Ones?
In 2026, it appeared stronger for planned meetings and efficient supplier comparison than for high-volume spontaneous lead generation. Established exhibitors with pre-booked customer appointments still attracted consistent traffic. This suggests that many international buyers continue to use Hong Kong as a convenient annual meeting point, even when they conduct initial product discovery online.
For a first-time buyer, the show can still shorten a supplier shortlist. For an experienced importer, its greatest value may be seeing new samples, reviewing packaging, discussing pricing face to face and meeting several existing suppliers in one trip.
What the 2026 Show Means for Adult Wellness Brands
- Do not compete only through price and feature count; build a defined user experience and retail story.
- Treat app connectivity as a complete system. Connection stability, privacy, updates and content scenarios matter as much as the hardware claim.
- Use packaging, gifting, IP and educational content to make the product easier for retailers and creators to explain.
- Plan trade-show meetings before arrival. Buyers are more selective, and the strongest conversations are increasingly scheduled.
- Combine exhibitions with a year-round B2B content strategy so buyers can verify expertise before and after meeting the team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Hong Kong Adult Expo still worth visiting for B2B buyers?
Yes, especially for comparing suppliers, viewing products in person and holding several planned meetings in one trip. It is less reliable if the only goal is to collect a large number of unqualified contacts.
What product trends stood out at the 2026 show?
Stronger movement mechanisms, suction and tapping experiences, app-controlled interaction, content synchronization, IP-led concepts, collectible or game elements, gift-ready packaging and products designed around emotional value.
Are app-controlled adult products still growing?
They remain an important development direction, but buyers should evaluate connection stability, user experience, privacy, update support and real interaction scenarios—not only whether an app exists.
How can buyers verify an adult toy manufacturer after a trade show?
Request company and factory information, market-specific test reports, quality-control procedures, samples, quotations with clear Incoterms, production timelines and references where appropriate. For significant orders, conduct or commission a factory audit.
What is the difference between OEM and ODM adult products?
With OEM, the buyer generally provides the design or specification and the factory manufactures it. With ODM, the supplier contributes product development, structure, appearance, engineering or packaging solutions that the buyer can customize.
What can AIERSHA supply?
AIERSHA supports B2B wholesale, OEM/ODM development, private labeling, custom packaging, mixed-product sourcing and export coordination, with a focus on pleasure products and gift-ready adult wellness concepts.
Final Takeaway
The foundation of the Hong Kong show is still present, but the market around it has changed. The next phase of growth will not come from exhibitions alone. Adult wellness companies need two engines: efficient trade relationships and credible year-round content. The businesses that translate product innovation into clear buyer value—while maintaining compliance, quality and reliable execution—will be best positioned when demand improves.
What Retail Buyers Say About AIERSHA
Product innovation creates interest, but repeat business depends on what happens after delivery. Feedback from No Reservations Lingerie & Adult Novelties Store highlights three practical factors that matter to retailers: shelf-ready packaging, perceived product quality and confidence to order again.
Five-star product feedback from No Reservations Lingerie & Adult Novelties Store.
Why this matters for B2B buyers: the reviews support the same commercial priorities identified in this field report—products must look credible on the shelf, meet quality expectations and give retailers enough confidence to continue the relationship.
